Abstract

1519483 Fluid regulation R JENKINS 5 April 1976 [15 April 1975] 15527/75 Heading G3H A fluid metering device for use in sampling equipment, comprises a pair of relatively-adjustable co-operating elements 10, 15 defining a restricted flow-path afforded by a groove or channel 16 etched in a metallic layer deposited on one of the elements. The element 15 is a disc comprising a ceramic, glass-fibre or paper-bonded phenolic-resin substrate coated with a layer of copper in which the channel is etched, whereafter a layer of gold is applied to provide protection against erosion and reduce wear. Disc 15 is rotatably adjustable via a sleeve 11 to control the effective length of the channel 16 extending between inlet port 22 in the disc and outlet port 23 in the body 10. The inlet port is supplied with fluid via passage 18, a passage afforded by a flat (not shown), on the shank of a screw 12, a hole 19 in the disc and a chamber 14. Outlet passage 24 discharges through an outlet bore provided with a restricting nylon screw 25.
