Abstract
1518975 Refractory objects incorporating gelled silica ZIRCONAL PROCESSES Ltd 29 June 1976 [13 Aug 1975] 33746/75 Headings CIA and C1J Refractory objects are produced by reacting together, in the presence of a mutual solvent and an acid, and in the absence of metal salts, an alkyl silicate and a silica alcohol, incorporating a refractory powder in the hydrolysate, shaping the resulting slurry, and causing or allowing the slurry to set. Suitable powders are fused silica, zircon, alumina and molochite. Setting may be caused by an alkaline substance.
