Abstract

1518914 Presulphiding hydrodesulphurization catalysts GULF RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO 29 Dec 1976 [2 April 1976] 54215/76 Heading B1E [Also in Division C5] Catalysts comprising a Group VIA metal component and a Group VIII metal component supported on a refractory oxide are presulphided by treatment with a liquid sulphur-containing hydrocarbon at 200 to 700‹F, 1 atm to 400 p.s.i.g. until the total amount of sulphur which has been contacted with the catalyst is 200 to 1400% of the amount required to completely sulphide the metals, the treatment being performed in a substantially hydrogen-free and oxygen-free atmosphere.
