Abstract
1517465 Magnesium carbonate board NIPPON HARDBOARD CO Ltd 23 July 1976 30865/76 Heading C1H [Also in Divisions B5 and D2] In a method of making a magnesium carbonate board, an aqueous suspension comprising a mixture of neutral carbonate and a fibrous material is cast onto a porous permeable carrier having pores of a size e.g. less than 10 Á, that will let through water but not the particles, to form a layer, assembling a plurality of the layers and pressing and then heat curing the assembly. The fibres may be vegetable, mineral or synthetic and the suspension may also comprise calcium compounds, silicon compounds, minerals and synthetic resins, specified carriers being a non-woven textile, a knitted fabric, a foam, a sintered metal or a porous ceramic. Prior to assembly of the individual layers, a coating resin or a finely divided material may be applied to at least one of the layers. The pressing may be effected with or without heat, the curing, to convert part of the neutral carbonate to the basic form being preferably effected at 60 to 100C
