Abstract

1517252 Stuffing-box packing H M MERKEL D MERKEL and H D MERKEL [trading as MARTIN MERKEL KG] 6 April 1976 [8 April 1975] 13962/76 Heading F2B A sealing tape of graphite, for use as a spirally-wound packing in a stuffing-box, is characterized by impressed or embossed lines extending over at least portions of their lengths in directions having components parallel to the length of the tape. Figs. 4, 7 and 8 (not shown), illustrate a single pattern of impressed lines (shown in white), on each face of the tape, and Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 (not shown), a double pattern of raised lines (shown in black). Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown) illustrate a singlesided pattern of raised projections (shown in black). The tape may be perforated.
