Abstract

1517229 Automatic control SOC ANON DES ATELIERS HOUGET DUESBERG BOSSON 28 Sept 1976 [29 Sept 1975] 40272/76 Heading G3N [Also in Division D1] Variation in the weight per unit area of a fibrous material is reduced by servo-controlling the speed of inlet elements of a card, or other textile machine by a data processing system responsive to the density of a lap of material to be fed to the machine. As shown, the fibrous material is fed from a volumetric feeder 1 to a card 2 the output of which is received on a fleece spreader device 3. The feeder 1 comprises an inclined feed apron, (not shown), feeding a hopper 4. The material from the hopper is deposited on an apron 7 co-operating with a synchronized roller 10 to define a space in which the density of the material is sensed by a radiation detector 9, prior to inlet to the card via cylinders 8. The regulation of the speed of the cylinders 8 and the card 2 is effected by speed controller 13, set by a servo-motor 22 responsive through an amplifier 23 and relays 22 to the output of a selfregulation module 21. The module 21 receives signals representative of a combination of integrated density, module 16 and speed, tachogenerator 14, and manually set initial density and speed from a module 18.
