1517035 Universal joints; slip clutches A JOHNSTON 29 Oct 1976 [4 Nov 1975] 45787/75 Headings F2U and F2C A universal joint for connecting drive shafts comprises a flat bladed internal member 16 engaged in a flat sided tube 17 with the interposition of elastomeric elements 18. The elements may be rubber or plastics, spherical, tubular, solid or cellular, reinforced, bonded or compressed between the shaft parts and formed of round, square or octagonal cross-section. Three or more blades may be employed with an equal number of sides. The joint may be designed to slip as adjusted under axial compression.
