Abstract

1516903 Cleaning coke oven standpipes INDUSTRIAL HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEMS Inc 24 June 1976 26312/76 Heading F2N To clean the standpipe P of a coke oven (not shown), apparatus 10 pivotally mounted (e.g. on the conventional larry car V of the coke oven battery) is swung downwardly until lip 22 rests on the rim of the access opening to pipe P, a carrier frame 24 is then slid towards the pipe P (e.g. by operating hydraulic cylinder 30), a pipe 36 is rotated or oscillated by motor 46 and water under high pressure is supplied via hose 44 and coupling 42 to nozzle outlets 40. The high pressure water supply, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), is from a tank from which water is pumped via a line to hose 44. Either the line includes an accumulator or the line is connected via a controllable by-pass to the tank.
