Abstract

1516844 Dental tool P THORUP 8 Sept 1975 [14 Sept 1974] 40139/74 Heading A5R A dental handpiece comprises an explorer portion 2 having a point 8, a handle portion 1 removably joined to the explorer portion, a passage 7 extending through the handle and explorer portions from a nipple 11 to an orifice 9 directed at point 8, and a valve in handle portion 1 controlled by pressure on a leaf spring 21. In use, a compressed air source is connected by flexible tubing with nipple 11 and air flow at a variable rate is provided by pressure on leaf spring 21. An alternative explorer portion, Fig. 2 (not shown), has a resilient point and a tubular nozzle directed at the point extending from the explorer portion. The tubular nozzle may be adjustable.
