1516837 Electric motors STRATHEARN AUDIO Ltd 1 Aug 1975 [2 Aug 1974] 34153/74 Heading H2A A variable reluctance A.C. motor has a stator including interdigitated poles, e.g. 35, 37, 26, 28 formed by bending over parts of metal plates, e.g. 31, 32, 24, 25, the poles having slots, e.g. 40, 41, defining pole teeth, the pole teeth on each pole having the same pitch as the polepieces on the rotor of the motor but the pole teeth of different stator poles being angularly spaced by different amounts from respective rotor pole-pieces in accordance with the phase difference between the currents fed to the coils which magnetize the stator poles. The motor. rotor is thereby caused to rotate at low speed.
