Abstract

1516705 Exhaust steam expander P KUNZ 3 Sept 1975 [10 Sept 1974] 36223/75 Heading F4A Exhaust steam is passed into a housing 2 containing water in a compartment 6 via a pipe 10 to an element having perforations in a lower part; the steam being expanded and passed out of dome 13 at a lower pressure and water from compartment 6 overflowing a partition 5 to a further compartment 7 having an outlet pipe 4. As shown the perforated element is an open-ended horizontally extending cylinder but various element constructions are disclosed: cylinders and half cylinders with their axes vertical (Figs. 3, 4, not shown) and dished elements with upper and lower curved surfaces (Figs. 5-7, not shown). The partition 5 may be replaced by a perforated wall (Figs. 6-7, not shown).
