Abstract
1516289 Change-speed gear control ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN AG 7 Jan 1977 [9 Jan 1976] 00531/77 Heading F2D An hydraulic system for producing a pressure proportional to speed comprises a pump 10, whose output is proportional to speed, the flow from pump 10 passing through at least two throttles 19, 20 connected in series each throttle being in parallel with a respective valve which opens when the pressure drop across the throttle exceeds a respective predetermined value. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1 the throttles 19, 20 are holes in valve discs 17, 18 respectively which are closed by springs 21, 22 respectively. Hole 19 is smaller than hole 20 and spring 21 weaker than spring 22. The control pressure produced in line 11, which may control an automatic transmission such as a change-underload type or a hydrostatic transmission, is usable over a greater range of speed than would be possible with a single throttle only. There may be three or more throttles, each with a respective pressure-operated valve in parallel (Fig. 6, not shown).
