Ploughs.-A motor turn-wrest plough is provided with means whereby the plough frame is caused to swing over when the machine is turned at the headlands. The plough frame 3, which is in two parts coupled by adjusting plates 4, 4' for the purpose of setting the shares correctly for any depth of ploughing, is rotatably supported in a vertically adjustable socket 15 on the tractor portion of the plough. The plough frame is locked in position by a spring-pressed pawl 11 which engages one or other of two notches on the plates 4, 4<1> and which may be lifted by the attendant. The tractor frame is carried by two main driving-wheels independently controlled and adapted to be engaged by brakes for the purpose of steering. The tractor frame also carries a front steering-wheel 5 which, when the ploughs are in working position, is raised from the ground. On arriving at a headland, the attendant reverses the machine. The reaction of the drive forces the front of the tractor downwards until the wheel 5 reaches the ground, the ploughs being lifted from the ground. The attendant then lifts the pawl 11 and holds one of the wheels of the brake. As the tractor pivots about the braked driving-wheel the ploughs rub over the ground and turn on their pivot in the socket 15. After the machine has turned through about 120 degrees, the motor is stopped and restarted in the forward direction, the brake being freed from the one wheel and applied to the other. The tractor frame swings on the wheels lifting the wheel 5 and depressing the plough frame so that the shares engage the ground and turn until the pawl 11 slips into its notch, after which the attendant releases the brake. Specification 145.077, [Class 79 (ii), Motor-vehicles, Driving &c.], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes a modification in which it is stated that the turning of the ploughs may be produced by distributing the masses on the plough frame unevenly. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
