Abstract

1516031 Delay detonators for blasting IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 2 Feb 1977 [27 Feb 1976] 07811/76 Heading F3A A delay ignition transmission assembly for sequential delay blasting operations comprises a shockwave propagation tube 10 one end of which is in igniting relationship with a delay element 15 comprising a metal cylinder having at least three, preferably five, passages extending therein from end to end and filled with cores 17 of delay burning composition which is capable of self-sustained combustion in such a manner that the slag produced is retained in the passages. The propagation tube 10 is of usual construction and sealed 11 into one end of a casing 12 in which the delay element 15 is disposed between the adjacent end of the propagation tube 10 and an explosive charge 13, 14. Examples of delay element 15 as described above are given.
