Abstract
1515955 Centrifugal pumps and compressors KOBE Inc 26 June 1976 26719/76 Heading F1C In a centrifugal pump or compressor of the type comprising a stationary pitot tube 60, Fig. 2, scooping fluid from a rotary chamber 24, the inlet 62 of the pitot tube is followed by a divergent passage portion 72 which ensures a substantially constant flow-rate over a wide range of pressure. The radial passage 64 of each pitot tube leads to an individual sector 56 of the axial discharge duct 54. In the case of a fuel pump, each sector 56 is connected to an individual fuel nozzle. The pitot tubes 60 may all be in the same transverse plane as shown or may be staggered axially, e.g. in two groups of three or three groups of two. The ratio of the flow area at the inlet 62b, Fig. 6, of a pitot tube 60b to the flow area at the downstream end of the divergent passage portion 72b may be varied by means of a cone 76b which is movable axially via a rod 78b by means of a cam 88b and a follower 84b, the cam being rotatable by bevel gearing 92b, 94b.
