Abstract
1515759 Plate heat exchangers VARMEATERVINNING OLLE BLOMGREN AB 16 Dec 1975 [17 Dec 1974] 51493/75 Heading F4S A heat exchanger comprises two or more rectangular-section, series connected, cross-flow heat exchange plate units (e.g. 1, 2) arranged in a casing 4, both heat exchanging fluids being gases (e.g. exhausting room air and incoming fresh air) and flowing in series from one unit to the next via respective mixing chambers 17 and 18 of equal size and adapted to cause a 90 degree deflection of the fluid stream passing therethrough, each chamber being defined by the wall of the casing 4 and by end walls (e.g. 11, 13 or 10, 16) of adjacent units. The intention is that gas layers of differing temperature passing out of a unit are mixed together in the chamber 17 or 18 before entering the following unit. Means 24 are provided for collecting and removing any condensate from the cooled gas. Each plate unit 1, 2 comprises spaced-apart smooth sheets of metal (e.g. aluminium). A blower may be incorporated for each gas stream (Fig. 2). The blowers may be driven either independently or from a single motor.
