Abstract

1515336 Television SIEMENS AG 11 June 1975 [25 June 1974] 24935/75 Heading H4F A TV channel distortion correction method is described wherein the difference between the actual distorted signal and a theoretical model desired signal, is employed to control a correcting device in the form of a transversal filter. Camera 1, Fig. 2 produces a signal into which: transmission, 2; channel, 3; receiver, 5; desired signal shaping and display 6, 7 distortions are introduced. Elements 2<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>1</SP> represent the distortions due to transmission, reception, signal shaping and display respectively, in a "test signal" emanating from generator 9 which passes over the transmission channel thereby acquiring also the channel distortion 3. A second test generator 10 supplies a "model signal" over model channel 11 and signal shaping and display distortion simulations 6<SP>11</SP>, 7<SP>11</SP>. The outputs of display distortion simulators 7' are differenced 12. The output of subtractor 12 is applied to a control device 13 via which corrector 4 is "set up". A very narrow, wide band pulse #(t) is fed to generators 9 and 10, however generator 10 may be fed from the output of channel 3 by provision of a test signal acquisition device 16.
