Abstract

1515128 Laminates BASF AG 8 Oct 1975 [9 Oct 1974] 41180/75 Heading B5N [Also in Division C3] Laminates comprise a layer of optionally rubber modified polystyrene bonded to a layer of a composition comprising a homogeneous mixture of (A) 10 to 30 weight per cent based on A + B of a styrene/maleic anhydride copolymer containing 10 to 13 weight per cent of maleic anhydride, (B) 70 to 90 weight per cent based on A+B of a polymethyl or ethyl methacrylate, optionally containing up to 10 weight per cent of acrylonitrile units, and (C) 10 to 45 weight per cent based on A + B + C of a poly (C 2-4 alkylene) oxide of molecular weight 1000 to 11,000, which may be further bonded to a layer of thermoplastic resin such as styrene/acrylonitrile, ABS or polyvinyl chloride resin. In Example (3) a laminate comprises a layer of polybutadiene rubber modified polystyrene, a layer of a composition of styrene/maleic anhydride copolymer, polymethyl methacrylate and polyethylene oxide, and a layer of polyvinyl chloride bonded under pressure at 180‹ C.
