Abstract

1513763 Joint composition NATIONAL GYPSUM CO 16 May 1975 20954/75 Heading C3N A joint composition free of asbestos fibre, comprises by dry weight, 50-99% of finely powdered inorganic filler other than attapulgite clay, 1-50% of a binder for said filler, 0À1-5% of an organic hydrophilic thickener other than the binder specified hereinabove, 0À1-5% finely powdered attapulgite clay and a flocculating agent for said clay other than the binder or the organic hydrophilic thickener specified hereinabove in an amount of 0À1-5À0 parts by weight for every 10 parts by weight of attapulgite clay. The inorganic filler may be limestone, mica or clay; the binder may be polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl alcohol, starch or casein; the organic hydrophilic thickener may be hydroxypropyl cellulose; and the flocculating agent may be polyacrylamide, a copolymer of acrylamide and an acrylic or polyethylene oxide.
