Abstract

1513172 Segmented polyalkenamer copolymers BAYER AG 15 May 1975 [18 May 1974] 20583/75 Heading C3P Segmented copolymers of the formula where R<1> is -CH = CH-(CH2)n-C6H4-CH2- or -CH=CH-CH2-, m is 1 or 2 and B is a polyalkenamer chain are obtained by polymerizing a cyclic olefin in the presence of a ring- opening catalyst and of a monoolefin macromer of the formula A-R where R is Z being alkyl, cycloalkyl or hydrogen and n is 0 to 10, and A is an aliphatically saturated hydrocarbyl residue of molecular weight from 1000 to 500,000. The macromer may be added before, during or after polymerization. The examples refer to the polymerization of cyclopentene in the presence of WCl6-Cl.C2H4OH/ Et2AlCl or WCl6/BF3 . Et2O/SnEt4 and of macromers of various molecular weights, which have been prepared by reacting allyl chloride with "living" polystyrene.
