1513147 Capacitors ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 22 May 1975 [23 Sept 1974] 22166/75 Heading H1M In a wound, metallized paper or plastics capacitor contained in a casing without impregnation, free space within the casing is at least partly filled with one or more substances diminishing the free oxygen or water vapour. content within the casing. Permissible residual amounts S of oxygen and F of water vapour in milligrams per sq. metre of metal coating are given by S # K##F, wherein K is 1À5 Î 10<-3> milligrams <3>/2m<3>, i.e. the more of the one there is present, the less of the other is tolerable. The substance may be magnesium perchlorate, phosphorus pentoxide, calcium chloride, potassium hydroxide, lead spar, alumina, silica gel or alkaline earth metals, and where necessary for handling purposes it may be contained in a plastics bag of suitable porosity or compounded with asbestos or glass wool. Powdered hygroscopic resin material such as polyamide or polymethacrylate may also be used and elements of the capacitor components of the capacity, other than the roll itself made of these substances may perform the desired function. Free space may be diminished by filling with inert substances, e.g. sand or glass balls, and the initial amount of oxygen or water vapour may be reduced by evacuation and filling with N2, CO2 or SF6. A nephurable conductor wire may provide overvoltage protection.
