Abstract
A self-healing electrical capacitor comprises a case of wound sheets of synthetic material (e.g. a polyolefin, esp. polypropylene), at least one of whose surfaces has been metallised (e.g. with Zn or Al). The case contains an insulating powdery desiccant (e.g. SiO2) whose m. pt. is >1000 degrees C. which fills the space between the windings and the case and/or between the windings.
