1512963 Corrosion - resistant cable RELIANCE CORDS & CABLES Ltd 23 Jan 1976 [24 Jan 1975] 3238/75 Heading H1A An electric cable consisting of conductors enclosed in a protective sheath, has provided inside the sheath an elongate member carrying a substance, the vapours of which, on coming into contact with the surface of a conductor will render it resistant to corrosion from moisture which may be present in or subsequently penetrate the cable. The conductors may be aluminium and the substance, called a "vapour phase inhibiting composition" (V.P.I.) may be cyclohexylamine carbonate. The cable may consist of individually insulated conductors, when the vapours may penetrate any pinholes present. The carrier of the substance may be the insulation of a conductor, or a string laid up with the conductors, or a tape longitudinally or helically applied about the conductors.
