Percussive hand tools.-In a pneumatic percussive hand tool, the distributing valve 10 comprises a ring portion and a coned or flat flange; a valve box 8 may be provided therefor or the valve may seat against the cylinder end. With the valve 10 in the position shown, fluid passes through port 12 to the rear cylinder end to move the piston 3 forward; with the valve reversed, fluid passes through ports 13, 14, 16, chamber 15, and port 17 to effect the return stroke. During each stroke, after the piston 3 passes exhaust ports 19, fluid is compressed ahead of the piston and, assisted by live fluid in port 12 or 14, moves the valve 10. The chamber 15 is formed either in the valve box or in the cylinder walls. The throttle valve comprises an inner part 21 and an outer relatively-movable part 22 normally held in closed position by springs 24, 25 or fluid pressure. Initial movement of the trigger 5 moves the part 21 through the outer part and admits fluid to the tool through ports 28, 29; further movement of the trigger causes a shoulder to move part 22 and admit full pressure to the cylinder. A pivoted stop 33 engages the trigger to control its movement.
