Abstract

1512052 Detection of antibodies PHARMACIA DIAGNOSTICS AB 19 May 1975 [29 May 1974] 21170/75 Heading G1B [Also in Division C3] Antibodies in an aqueous sample are detailed by a method wherein the sample is contacted with a smooth surface coated with adsorbed or chemically bound antigen and antibody thus bound to the surface is detected by reaction with a biopolymer itself bound to small water insoluble particles, the formation of a coating of the biopolymer-bound particles being visible to the eye. The water-insoluble particles may be staphylococci and the biopolymer protein A, for use for example in detecting anti-dextran antibodies reacted with dextran on a glass slide, antibovine senna albumin (BSA) reacted with BSA in a thin layer chromatographic method test, or anti-dextran antibodies reacted with a dextran - anti-dextran mixture, or alternatively the particles may be guinea pig anti-rabbit immunoglobulintreated polymethylmethacrylate particles for use in detecting rabbit anti-dextran antibody bound to dextran on a glass slide.
