Abstract

1511662 Measuring electric field strength KANSAI BRANCH OF JAPAN PSYCHIC SCIENCE ASSOCIATION Inc and H UCHIDA 16 July 1975 [16 July 1974] 29908/75 Heading G1U An unspecified field, said to be produced by a variety of sources, is detected by a conductive probe member 2 connected to the input of a very high input impedance (e.g. 10<SP>9</SP>#) DC amplifier 13, if necessary via an interference suppressing filter 12, the probe being shielded from external fields. The amplifier comprises main and meter amplifiers which together exhibit variable sensitivity and zerosetting. To detect the direction of the field source, the probe is placed in the field and the meter set to zero; by moving the probe, the needle deflects positively or negatively thereby indicating the source direction, the correspondence between positive deflection and moving towards or away from the source being a function of the source. A wide variety of sources may be detected i.e. electromagnetic waves, light bulbs - either A.C. or D.C., whether on or off, organic materials, gases, offensive odours etc. The output from the probe is also a function of the rate at which the probe is moved in the field.
