Abstract

1511371 Rotatable seats SPASTICS SOCIETY 11 June 1976 [13 March 1975] 10528/75 Heading A4J [Also in Division B7] A seat particularly for use by an invalid operating the tiller 7 of a sailing dinghy comprises a chair 10 rotatably mounted on one end of a swinging arm 14 rotatably mounted at its other end on a fixed mounting, e.g. the aft bulkhead 5 of a sailing dinghy, the arc through which chair rotates as the arm swings about its fixed mounting being controlled by a sliding rod 22 keyed to the chair and rotatably mounted on a bracket 20 about an axis between the axes at the two ends of the swinging arm. The swinging arm may be operated by a winch 23 comprising a drive unit 24 which acts on the arm through an endless chain 25 connected to anchorages on the arm 14 intermediate its length.
