Abstract
1510951 Finishing fabrics M SCHOLAERT 12 Jan 1977 [16 Jan 1976] 01117/77 Heading D1S A fabric raising machine comprising pile rollers 4 and counterpile rollers 5 mounted on a rotary drum 1 and rotatable positively by means independent of one another and independent of the drum rotating means, is characterised in that the number of rollers 4 differs from the number of rollers 5. For fabrics with long fibres having a comparatively high degree of twist, there are more rollers 5 than rollers 4, but, for fabrics with short fibres with relatively little twist, there are fewer rollers 5 than rollers 4. In the machine shown, a total of 24 rollers comprises six rollers 4 separated from one another by sets of three rollers 5. Each roller comprises a tubular body 11, Fig. 2, having pivots 12, 13 journalled by bearings 14, 15 in the flanges 16, 17 of the drum 1. On each roller 4, a three - grooved pulley 21 is fixed to the pivot 12 and a threegrooved loose pulley 26 is mounted on the pivot 13. On each roller 5, the fixed pulley 21 is mounted on the pivot 13 and the loose pulley 26 on the pivot 12. The rollers 4 are driven from a shaft 36 by three belts 38 and the rollers 5 are driven from a shaft 42 by three belts engaging in the grooves of the pulleys 21 at the respective ends of the rollers 4, 5.
