Abstract

1509462 Extendible ladder ZARGES LEICHTBAU GmbH 11 Nov 1975 [15 Nov 1974 2 May 1975] 46540/75 Heading E1S An extendible ladder comprises a top ladder 20, a bottom ladder 10 and means for releasably supporting the top ladder in the extended position which comprises a catch lever 30 in the form of a bell crank which is mounted on the bottom ladder close below a rung 12 thereof and which pivots about a horizontal axis 19 which is offset towards the plane of the top ladder and which in a first position has one arm 31 of the catch lever engaged under one rung of the bottom ladder and the other arm 32 engaged under a rung 22 of the top ladder and in a second position 30' has the other arm disengaged, and operating means 140 movably mounted on the catch lever for causing it to pivot. The operating means comprises an angle member 146 pivoted to the catch lever at the end of one arm 141 and having a loop 142 formed at the end of the other arm through which a pull cable can pass, a horizontal component of the pull 143 causing pivoting of the operating means and catch lever to release the top ladder.
