Abstract

150,942. Todd, G. B. Feb. 10, 1920. Refrigerator cars.-In a refrigerator car having inner and outer walls 10, 11 with vacuum insulation, channelled bracing-members 15 are arranged between the walls and provided with insulating means to prevent their conducting heat from the outer to the inner walls. In the construction shown, the members 15 are secured to the inner walls by means of flanges 22, and are insulated from the outer walls by means of slabs 14 of cork or like material located in a channelled flange 23 of the bracing-member. The evacuated space between the walls may be filled with insulating-material such as mineral wool or asbestos, while holes 24 are drilled in the bracing- members so as to connect the spaces on each side of the members.
