1509412 Space heating apparatus J HENRIQUES 21 April 1975 [9 Dec 1974] 39112/77 Divided out of 1509411 Headings F4W and F4S A space heating assembly comprises a closed solid-fuel stove 20 removably positioned within a thermally insulated free-standing fireplace enclosure 66 and spaced from the bottom, rear and upper walls thereof to define a convection space, a flue enclosure 79 mounted over a flue aperture in the upper wall of the enclosure 66 and a flue adapter conduit movably associated with and connecting the flue aperture and a combustion products exit aperture in the top of the stove 20. A duct 81 connects the enclosure 79 to an existing chimney, so that one or more such assemblies may be located at any position in a room. The enclosure 66 is double-walled and a thermally insulating material 90 such as asbestos vermiculite fills at least part of the space between the double walls. In the form shown, a decorative casing surrounds the enclosure 79 and duct 81 to define an air space 85. Heated air is drawn from the space 85 either through the inner duct 97 of a double duct chimney or through openings (87, Fig. 3) in the duct 81. A smoke deflector 80 enhances up-draught in the duct 81. A rear opening 98 in enclosure 66 enables air to flow from the convection space into a room adjacent the room in which the assembly is located. The stove 20 is described in parent Specification.
