Abstract

1509052 Incandescent lamps; turret machines V T SAMONOV 9 April 1975 14648/75 Headings H1F and H1J A spindle assembly for the station of a lamp assembling machine at which a lamp bulb is sealed to a stem includes means for automatically freeing a stem which has become welded to the spindle, e.g. as a result of a bulb not being loaded into a bulb-holder of the assembly. The assembly comprises a hollow sleeve 4 rotatable within housing 1, a spindle 6 rotatable with but axially movable in relation to sleeve 4, the upper portion 7, 8, 9 of the spindle accommodating thereon a bulb stem 33. Cross-piece 18 and uprights 22, 23 support holder 24 for retaining the bulb during sealing, and also support 28 for the stem removing mechanism 29. This comprises four arms 30 biased against spindle 6. After the operation which should seal the bulb to the stem, the spindle is moved downwardly by a cam mechanism, not illustrated, and the relative upward movement of arms 30 removes a welded-on stem.
