1508314 7 - α - Methoxy - 7 - # - (substituted acetamido) - cephalosporins BEECHAM GROUP Ltd 21 Oct 1975 [10 Dec 1974] 53463/74 Heading C2C Novel compounds II or a salt or ester thereof in which Y is O or S, R<SP>1</SP> is an organic radical having up to 20 C atoms, R<SP>2</SP> is C 1-3 alkyl or benzyl or R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> together with the C and N atoms to which they are attached form a 5 to 7 membered ring, R<SP>3</SP> is phenyl (optionally substituted by one or more groups selected from OH, halogen, NO 2 , C 1-3 alkoxy and NH 2 ), thienyl, C 3-7 cycloalkyl, cyclohexadienyl, or C 1-4 alkyl and R<SP>5</SP> is an organic radical containing at least one O, N or S atom and which is linked to the 3-methylene moiety by one of these O, N or S atoms, are prepared by methods known per se. Sodium 7 - # - [D - α - (3 - cinnamoyl - 3- methylureido) - phenylacetamido] - 7 - α - methoxycephalosporanate and sodium 3 - carbamoyloxymethyl - 7 - α - methoxy - 7 - # - [D - α - (3 - (2- methyl - 2 - butenoyl) - 3 - methylureido) - phenylacetamido] - 3 - cephem - 4 - carboxylate are prepared. 3 - Hydroxymethyl - 7 - α - methoxy - 7 - # - [D- α - (3 - (2 - methyl - but - 2 - enoyl) - 3 - methylureido) - phenylacetamido - 3 - cephem - 4 - carboxylic acid is prepared by hydrolysis of the corresponding 3-acetoxymethyl derivative using citrus acetylesterase.
