Abstract

150,817. Vernon, W. N. June 7, 1919. Storage bins. - Opposite surfaces of bins for flow or like pulverulent material are provided with sections of different inclination to the vertical, the inclination being so small that the material as a whole may fall in a vertical direction, so that it does not " stick,'' and the arrangement being such that the sides alternately support and release the material to prevent " arching." Two constructions of bin are shown in Figs. 1 and 4, the material being supported by vertical sections b, 1<b>, and by inwardly inclined sections c, 1<c>. Outwardly inclined sections a, 1<a> release the material and allow it to fall. Instead of flat sections, concave and convex sections may be employed. The result of an arrangement of sections as shown in Fig. 1 is to produce sides substan. tially vertical in general direction, but having dog-leg or like bulges in staggered relationship down opposite sides of the bin. The bins may be provided with discharge conveyers, and may be arranged in nests or groups.
