Abstract
1507157 Alkali metal-S cells CHLORIDE SILENT POWER Ltd 23 June 1976 [27 June 1975] 27365/75 Heading H1B An alkali metal, e.g. Na, -S cell has a (carbon or steel) current collector 1 for the S, which is grooved to give a surface area greater than the surface area of the (#-alumina) electrolyte 3 in contact with the S. Initial discharge is provided by a carbon ring 4. In a modification in which the S is located between the electrolyte and an outer tubular current collector, the inner surface of the collector may be grooved. Alternatively the cell may be of planar form.
