Abstract

1506688 Valves H W PALEY 1 July 1976 27468/76 Heading F2V A multi-way valve comprises a plastics valve body 351 having a longitudinal flow passage 359 and a plurality of lateral flow passages 371-375 and, normal to the passages, bores 389-393 which may contain sealing sleeves 401-405 in which valve members 395 to 399 are rotatably and removably mounted. The valve body is provided with stops and the valve members are provided with spaced stop faces and a notch such that the valve members can be rotated between end positions defined by the stop or removed and inserted with the stop through the notch to prevent rotation. The valve is used in medical apparatus, the flow passages terminating in threaded nipples 361, 362, 377-381 for connection to exterior apparatus allowing a plurality of interconnections. The valve may be provided with a support clamp 411. The valve may be injection moulded from a polysulphone or polycarbonate. The valve members are preferably of polytetramethyl-terephthalate, polypropylene or polyethylene and the sleeves of polyurethane.
