Abstract
1506301 Toothed gearing ROLAND OFFSETMASCHINENFABRIK FABER & SCHLEICHER AG 6 Oct 1975 [5 Oct 1974] 40859/75 Heading F2Q In a spur gear train 11, 13, 14, 15, for driving a printing press, rotary oscillations detrimental to the printing process which might arise from backlash and from inevitable irregularities of tooth contour are prevented or damped by the provision of additional frictionally-engaging wheels 16, 17 and 19, 20, 22, coaxially with the spur wheels, each mating pair of friction wheels comprising one member, 16, 19, 22 with a non- elastic periphery e.g. of hardened steel, and another member 18, 20, with a periphery covered by an elastic material, e.g. rubber or a synthetic rubbery material. The diameters of these members may differ from the pitch circle diameters of the corresponding spur wheels, the non-elastic member preferably having an increased diameter. The resulting relative slippage of the elastic member has-the effect of increasing or decreasing the spur wheel tooth pressure. The peripheral portions of both elastie and non-elastic members may be detachable, Fig. 2. The elastic surface may have curved crowning or circumferential grooves, or it may be composed of several layers, e.g. an outer less elastic layer of wear-resistant material, over a layer of a materialof higher elasticity.
