1505231 Mixing plastics constituents DEMAG KUNSTSTOFFTECHNIK ZWEIGNIEDERLASSUNG DER DEMAG AG 29 Oct 1976 [8 Nov 1975] 45144/76 Heading B1C A device for mixing a plurality of liquid constituents of a plastics material and feeding the mixture e.g. to a mould comprises a mixing chamber 6 opening to a sprue channel 5 through an opening 5' providing a flow restriction, the end wall 6' having the opening being convergent or inclined to the opening and the opposite end wall being the end of a piston 15 in which is slidably mounted a cleaning pin 22 slidable into the opening 5'. The piston 15 is advanced by pressure fluid supplied through line 24 and acting on a working piston 3; at the end of the forward stroke the pin 32 abuts the end wall of the cylinder 2 and opens a valve 31 to admit pressure fluid behind the piston 21 whereby the cleaning pin 22 is then advanced. The position of the cleaning pin may be monitored by a device 40. The mixing chamber 6 may be of prismatic cross-section (Fig. 2, not shown); the end wall 6' may be of truncated prismatic or truncated conical shape, and its inclination is preferably 45‹-60‹ to the axis of the sprue channel, which may be of polygonal or circular cross-section. The mixture constituents are injected by lever-controlled valves (8) through orifices 7.
