Abstract

1505066 Raising particulate material in liquids R A DUCKWORTH 25 April 1975 [1 May 1974] 19199/74 Heading F1R Particles of sedimentary material are raised from a submerged position by apparatus comprising a rising conduit 10 having an inlet at said position and means for pumping into the rising conduit at a depth below the surface, a mixture of water and buoyant particles. As shown the buoyant particles are introduced into the riser from an annular passage 12 surrounding the riser and the material and particles are separated in a chamber 15, the particles being recirculated by an ejector 20 operated by water from a pump 22. Suitable constructions of spherical particles are described. They may be of a size to be a loose fit in the riser.
