Abstract

1504974 Photo-electric apparatus GOETZEWERKE FRIEDRICH GOETZE AG 4 March 1975 [9 March 1974] 8944/75 Heading G1A A device for testing the sealing edge 2 of a lipsealing ring 1 of resilient material for defects in the contour of the sealing edge comprises a source of light 4 and a photo-electric cell 5, arranged to define an optical axis 3 crossing the sealing edge, a gauge member 7 of which a surface 6 engages the part of the circumference of the sealing edge in the region of the optical axis which gauge member is adjustable radially with respect to the sealing edge to vary the force exerted on it, the ring being supported for rotation about an axis 8. Preferably the engagement surface of the gauge member is a segment of a cylindrical surface. Two rollers 9, 10 are disposed adjacent the gauge member on opposite sides thereof with their axes parallel to the axis 8, which rollers are adjustable radially independently of the gauge member. The rollers may be also movable parallel to the sealing ring axis 8 when they are fixed to a common supporting body 11. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1407572.
