Abstract

1504705 Monoazo dyes KODAK Ltd 25 July 1975 [26 July 1974] 33125/74 Heading C4P [Also in Division Dl] The dyes of formula are prepared by diazotization of 2-amino-5-nitrothiazole with sodium nitrite and sulphuric acid, a mixture of propionic and acetic acids also being added, coupling agents dissolved in propionicacetic acid mixture then being added, the mixture poured into water and the dye precipitated, in the above formula R 1 and R 2 are H, C 1 -C 5 alkyl or C 1 -C 5 alkenyl groups, or R 1 and R 2 are joined to form part of a heterocyclic ring, R 3 being 1 to 4 substituents selected from H, CH 3 , C 2 H 5 , OH 3 , or halogen. Violet, red-blue shades are obtained by transfer printing on polyester materials and films.
