Abstract

1504506 Endless conveyers ALVAN BLANCH DEVELOPMENT CO Ltd 13 June 1975 [14 March 1974] 43268/73 Heading B8A [Also in Division F4] An apparatus for drying loose or in bulk material, e.g. cocoa beans or cassava roots, comprises a trough-like bed (1, 2), see Fig. 3 (not shown), along which the material is transported from a loading end to a discharge end, and an elevator 12 which is movable along the bed from the discharge end to the loading end and is operable to lift the material over the whole width and depth of the material in advance of the elevator and deposit the material behind the elevator as it moves in direction X towards the loading end. The elevator comprises a pivotal frame 30 on a carriage 15 carrying electric motors 20, 25 for driving the carriage in either direction along a track 16 over the bed and for moving an endless chain or belt 13 bearing flights or buckets 14 and brushes 26. Microswitches 24, 31 control the motor 20 and an electric motor 29 which raises the frame 30, see Fig. 5 (not shown) for return of the elevator to the discharge end. The bed (1, 2) has a slatted or perforated floor, and air heating and recirculating means (8 ... 11) at the discharge end, see Figs. 1, 2 (not shown). Air may be delivered to the length of the bed instead of only at the discharge end.
