Abstract

1504230 Bifurcated rivets; securing insulation B R AINSWORTH & CO Ltd 8 Dec 1976 [10 Jan 1976] 935/76 Headings F2H and F2X A self-adhesive rivet comprises a base plate 1 having a flat side coated with adhesive 2, and a pair of flat pointed prongs 3, 4 projecting from the other side. The prongs may be of different lengths and/or widths and/or thicknesses, and are fixed to the base plate 1 by rivets, welds, or crimping. The adhesive is covered by a release paper. The rivet is used for securing lightweight materials such as insulation to a wall having a dry smooth surface. The base plate is stuck to the wall, the insulation impaled over the prongs, and the prongs bent over to retain the insulation. If several layers are secured, one or more layers may be impaled over the prongs, and one prong bent over, a further layer or layers then being impaled on the other prong which finally is bent over.
