Abstract

1504179 Controlling tape recorders DICTAPHONE CORP 23 Dec 1975 [27 Dec 1974] 07515/77 Divided out of 1504174 Heading G5R [Also in Division H4] In a transcribing device for transcribing information recorded on a recording medium in a format wherein successive messages are separated by a signal, when such a signal is detected during a forward or reverse winding operation an indication is produced, e.g. a tone generator 246 is actuated, and relative movement between the medium and a record/ reproduce transducer 256 is temporarily halted for a predetermined duration. When the message separating signal is detected during a tape winding operation it is amplified at 272 and then applied to AND gate 206, at whose other input an enabling voltage V is present. The resulting output from 206 triggers a 1-shot 208 which produces an output pulse of predetermined duration, during which: (a) tone generator 246 (and/or a lamp) is actuated; (b) forward solenoid 228, or rewind solenoid 238, is disabled; (c) gate 206 is inhibited.
