Abstract

1504118 Radar; transmission system SIEMENS AG 21 Nov 1973 [21 Dec 1972] 41275/73 Headings H4D and H4L Pulse-coded information, e.g. Fig. 2, first row, is formed by a sequence, second row, where the code word sections a, a* are chosen such that their respective correlation functions have secondary maxima of opposite signs, e.g. Fig. 1 lines b, c to yield a unique pulse-compressed output line d. The code word sections in the embodiment are phasecoded, as in Fig. 1. According to the invention the compressed "1" and "0" pulses are passed to the final output via respective thresholds of opposite signs. Preferably the threshold magnitudes are equal. The a &c. sections are emitted on different frequencies as illustrated in Fig. 2. The binary code may be altered for anti-jamming purposes. The invention reduces the effect of interference, and may be applied to identification coding in responders of a secondary radar system.
