Abstract
1503592 Tractor power lift mechanisms VALMET OY 25 Feb 1975 [27 Feb 1974] 7726/75 Heading A1P [Also in Divisions B7 and G3] A method of feed - back - connected control of a tractor connected to a working implement P comprises the following steps: (a) obtaining implement performance-dependent signals PDS related to at least one variable in the working implement performance, (b) supplying a power control of the tractor engine E with the said implement performance-dependent signals PDS to keep the engine power output matched to the requirements of the implements, (c) obtaining engine-related signals ERS related to at least one variable in the tractor engine functioning and using these engine-related signals to obtain derived signals PEDS, (d) obtaining tractor-dependent signals TDS dependent upon at least one variable in the tractor functioning, (e) supplying an adder A with the tractordependent signals TDS and with the derived signals PEDS derived from the enginerelated signals ERS, (f) supplying the said adder A with control signals MS from an electronic circuit 11 which has a non-linear characteristic including a set point valve -h and a dead range, which receives input signals IS from a differentiator D dependent upon a transducer 1a or lb and a manual control 10a or 10b, and which generates said control signals MS if said input signals IS are below said set point value -h or above said dead range, and (g) passing any corrective signals CS generated by said adder A to a governor 5 which governs a hydraulic valve control arrangement 17 controlling a hydraulic power-lift cylinder 21 for shifting the tractor hydraulic power-lift arms and the working implement so as to change the working implement performance until the said input signals are within the said dead range and the electronic circuit 11 ceases to send control signals MS to said adder A. In the method particularly described, the working implement P is a plough. The working implement performance-dependent signals PDS are related to plough depth or ground resistance. The tractor-dependent signals TDS are related to slippage of the tractors wheels. The manual controls 10a and 10b respectively set the desired plough depth and the desired pressure in the powerlift cylinder 21. The method may comprise the additional step of utilising a controller 15 to lock the tractors differential gear when the tractor wheel-slip exceeds a predetermined level. In modifications of the method particularly described, the working implement may be a harvester, peat-miller, or street-sweeper.
