Abstract

1503196 Printers W & T AVERY Ltd 28 Jan 1976 [29 Jan 1975] 3860/75 Heading G4H Printer control circuitry includes a first store for transient information and a second store for permanent information, the second store being included in a non-destructive memory which contains instructions for the read-out of the stores which feed comparing means. A weighing machine (with computer) supplies (tared) weight, unit price and price to a RAM. Thumb wheels are used to set up a date and code (identifying printer or weighing machine). A ROM addressed by a clock-driven counter provides outputs to select data from the RAM, thumb wheels and the ROM itself, in the appropriate order and supply it to a comparator receiving the output of a counter driven in synchronism with the print drum of a line printer. The comparator sets appropriate flip-flops corresponding to hammers of a line of hammers to print two lines in turn on each label of a strip of labels. A non-selective printer also prints on the labels, and subsequently the strip is guillotined.
