Abstract

1502828 Lasers FERRANTI Ltd 10 May 1976 [10 May 1975] 19745/75 Heading H1C In a laser in which pumping light from an external source is concentrated by a curved reflector on a laser rod, the reflector consists of a suitably shaped body to which is attached a flexible substrate having a preformed reflecting coating on one surface. The coating may be vacuum deposited silver with an overlying protective layer of silicon oxide or aluminium oxide, or may be a plurality of rare earth oxide dielectric layers. An adhesive or clips is used to secure the curved substrate to the body. A two-part cylindrical reflector of elliptical crosssection with a flash lamp and a Nd-YAG laser rod at respective foci is described.
