Abstract

1502762 Panelling; composite metal sheeting ALCOA MFG (GB) Ltd 24 Jan 1975 [29 Oct 1973] 50256/73 Headings E1B and E1K Panelling comprises at least two similar co-planar metal panels 1 and 1', each having a first stiffening member 5 adhered to one face adjacent one first edge thereof and a second parallel stiffening member 6 adhered to the same face at a position spaced from said edge and spaced from an opposite second edge of the panel, at least one of said first and second edges of one panel being joined in face-to-face contact with a generally similar one of the second and first edges of another panel. The panels may, as shown, be channel sectioned and the stiffening members be J-sectioned. Alternatively, Fig. 2 (not shown) the panels may be planar, the first stiffening members may be T-sectioned and the second stiffening members be tubular. A double skinned panel may be formed by interconnecting the stems of the T-sectioned stiffening members of two parallel sets of panelling. The cavity of such double-skinned panels may be filled with plastics. Adjacent panels are rivetted together. The stiffening members are adhered to the panels with an epoxy resin.
