Abstract

1502276 Preparing 1-amino-2-cyanoanthraquinones IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 9 May 1975 [18 June 1974] 26925/74 Heading C4P The invention comprises compounds of the general formula wherein R 1 and R 2 are H, halogen, OH, alkoxy or acylamino, R 5 is OH or C 1 -C 3 alkyl and R 6 is C 1 -C 3 alkyl. They are prepared by condensing a 1,4-naphthoquinone having the general formula with a 2-amino-3-cyanofuran having the general formula wherein R 3 -R 4 are C 1- C 3 alkyl except when R 5 is OH, R 4 is H. The reaction preferably takes place in a solvent, e.g. ethyl acetate, with heating, e.g. at the boil. The dyes are used on polyesters or as intermediates.
